CLUB NIGHTS: These are held on a Wednesday evening at the No 2 Ground at the Rotorua International Stadium. The first event of the programme gets away at 6.15pm sharp. Be aware the programme is subject to change when the weather is inclement. CLUB NIGHTS ARE NOT CANCELLED. PROGRAMME: A weekly programme of events has been drawn up. The times listed will be adhered to as much as possible. These are listed below. TRACK EVENTS: Track races will be conducted on a graded ability system. Events may be run as mixed male/female events of similar abilities. Some of the distance events are handicap and other mass start (scratch) events.
COMMUNICATION: A weekly “guff sheet” is produced and keeps members up to date with Club activities. This can be uplifted on club nights or from the club’s website (click on link above). Details of forthcoming events will also be displayed on the notice board each evening.
COACHING: The Club has people willing to assist with the technical aspects of the coaching of track and field. Lindsay Foster can direct you to these people.
TRAINING FACILITIES: The track can be used for training on Monday and Thursday evenings 4.00pm to 7.00pm, Saturday and Sunday mornings 9.00am to 12 noon. The children’s section of the Club use the ground on Tuesday evenings for their weekly competition so training at the track is out that evening. On Thursday evenings the track might have to be shared with other users. There will be occasions when other users have booked the grounds so the grounds will be unavailable at such times. If using the circular track for training please use the very inside lane leaving the next two lanes for competition events.
SUBSCRIPTIONS: For the Club to function it is necessary for all taking part in club nights and training at the track to pay a subscription. Those that pay the full fee, which allows you to take part in any event throughout the country, they will be issued with a registration patch. This is to be worn on the front of your competition singlet. If you have paid to the Club a subscription after 1 April 2009 no further fee needs to be paid until the next subscription year. The current subscription year is from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2010. Subscription forms are available at club nights or from the website.
CLUB UNIFORM: These are held at the Club’s main clubrooms at Neil Hunt Park. Please contact Lynne Ogilvie (347 8181 evenings prior to 9.00pm) should you wish to make a purchase. Please make arrangements well before you require the garment. You will need to purchase your own black shorts. Club uniform does not need to be worn on club nights, but it is preferred that it is worn for championship events.
CHANGE TO STARTING PROCEDURE: As from 1 October 2009, false starts in track events are not permitted. Any athlete that has a false start will be disqualified from the event.
CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAMME: The following notes relate to the championship programme, which is detailed below. Please note starting times of events, plus any special conditions that may apply i.e. lap recorders required, the combining of events.
